The tournament comes at a time when the tourism industry is at its slowest owing to the season. However it is projected that the hotel and transport business will experience a boom as Zambia expects an influx of soccer fans that will come to shove support to their respective teams. Much as the numbers will not be as high as if it were the senior tournament, the numbers will still make a difference.

“Occupancy rates, domestic flights to tourism hot spots should expect an increase in business,” Khatijah Sikutwa a Tourism Consultant said in a phone interview on 28 Jan.

Zambia will be looking to redeem itself for missing out at the Gabonese tournament after failing to qualify. Pressure will be on Zambia from all fronts including being hosts. The outcome of this tournament will give Zambia more confidence in bidding for the main Afcon which has a bigger team participation.
