Barclays Bank Zambia, the sponsor of Barclay’s cup, the only surviving national football league cup competition has increased this year’s purse money for the winners and runner up. The winners will get K350,000 from last years K300,000, while runner ups will be entitled to K180,000 from K150,000.
The draws for the quarter finals will see Zanaco face Kitwe giants’ Power dynamos with Napsa stars pitted against Green buffaloes. Division one sides Monze swallows will come up against and Kitwe united for a place in the quarters to face defending champions Zesco united football club. Lusaka dynamos will await the winner between national assembly and kabwe youth football club.
Other Barclays cup prize increments include Best Coach prize of K10,000 to K15,000, Best Player of the Cup prize has been increased from K5,000 to K15,000 while Man of the Match has increased from K1,000 to K5,000. Barclays Bank Zambia was one of the best performing banks in Zambia in the first half of 2017.
