UBA re-iterates commitment to Zambia’s Economy

The United Bank for Africa Zambia – UBA on 29 May at it’s Acacia Park Headquarters in Lusaka re-iterated its plans to finance the economy and strengthen its presence in Zambia. Hosting the briefing was the Regional CEO, for UBA East and Southern Africa, Emeke E. Iweriebor, who stated that ‘the bank’s strategic initiative is to continue strengthening its presence in Zambia and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of the country’’.

Also present was UBA Zambia Chief Executive Officer – CEO Emeka Dimanochie who stated that the Bank will provide support to the key sectors of the economy in Zambia. Emeke E. Iweriebor, the Group Executive Director for East and Southern Africa, explained that ‘’UBAGROUP has taken a strategic decision to strengthen its investments, and network in East and Southern Africa.

We are committed to Zambia and the countries in the region’’. Iweriebor added that this was why the Bank created a region, UBA East and Southern Africa, consisting of Zambia, DR Congo, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
He added that the subsidiaries have been fully resourced for business. The bank remains close to its customers, and other stakeholders to facilitate and support infrastructural development, agriculture, power, roads, manufacturing, as well as SMEs, given their critical role in economic development. He also added that the Bank will leverage on its strength in digital banking to serve its customers.

UBA Zambia will be launching a chat banking platform called ‘Leo’. This is an artificial intelligence that will be accessible via Facebook messenger where customers can access banking services at their convenience. Services include but are not limited to: Account opening, bill payments, complaint lodging, account linking, funds transfer etc.
